Verse 1:
the floor has an imprint that matches my knees.
these walls are as familiar as the shadows covering me.
my lips form the vowels before i even speak.
its two a.m. on a saturday; hey God. (again)…its me.
my fingers trace the indent left by the pen -
the words that were written are being written yet again.
how is it that the clock ticks that old, repeating chime?
but the wounds, still fresh, are bleeding just as much as last time…
Chorus:
if all the world’s a stage as the orchestra plays
a song no longer mine, i’ve been caught in this haze,
and all the notes i used to know betray me as my colors show.
the music swells, i find im lost -
the lights grow dim, the show goes on -
now
i’m crying out,
“i don’t want to leave here – unchanged.”
Verse 2:
my thoughts they are bleeding - they are staining my hands
and i find what i once was, i don’t want to be ever again
so many times I’ve closed eyes, but the light somehow seeps in
to see stains so deep, will i ever be clean? would You wash me once again?
Chorus 2:
if all the world’s a stage as the orchestra plays
a song no longer mine, i've been caught in this haze,
and all the notes i used to know betray me as my colors show.
the music swells, i find im lost -
the lights grow dim, the show goes on -
now
i’m crying out,
“i don’t want to leave here – unchanged…”
Bridge:
my heart is breaking
so much you're taking
you promise greater things for me
help me believe you
teach me to trust you
open my eyes / to see / your eternity
Chorus:
if all the world’s a stage as the orchestra plays
a song no longer mine, i've been lost in this haze,
and all the notes i used to know betray me as my colors show.
the music swells, i find im lost -
the lights grow dim, the show goes on -
now
i’m crying out,
“i don’t want to leave here – unchanged…”
